The page facing this illustration is acidified from something that was laid in the book. This copy belonged to, and is inscribed by, the leader of the Progressive Movement in Montana and nationally. He was a U.S. representative, senator, and the seventh governor of Montana. Signed "Jos. M. Dixon 10/27/25 Missoula". His part in the party begins on page 267, and includes a full-page portrait. The author was formerly the Washington Correspondent of the New York Times and Secretary of the Progressive National Committee.
